February 20, 2009
Taiwan's government, Taiwan-based telecom operator CHT (Chunghwa Telecom), and US-based Intel plan to form a new JV, whereby they will jointly develop wireless applications and services, the Commercial Times of Taiwan reported on February 19. The new JV, with each party holding a stake of around 30%, will have an initial capital investment of NT$1 billion (US$28.85 million; US$1 = NT$34.66).

Despite of the fact that CHT declined to reveal the contents of the plan, Intel reiterated its intention to form the JV. According to the same source, the JV will be announced in March 2009 and further details are expected to be released then.
